Intercepted is a game created for Global Game Jam 2026 with the theme "Mask". The game explores the challenges of finding employment when traditional paths are blocked, leading to unconventional solutions involving deception and subterfuge.
Game Concept
In a world where finding legitimate employment seems impossible, you discover a unique opportunity: smuggling contraband through airport security. The gameplay revolves around gathering items, masking them with other objects to avoid detection, and navigating through increasingly challenging airport control where your baggage is thoroughly scanned.
Core Mechanics
- Item Collection: Gather various items and contraband throughout the environment
- Masking System: Combine contraband with legitimate items to create convincing disguises
- Airport Security: Navigate through X-ray scanners, metal detectors, and baggage checks
- Risk vs Reward: Balance danger of detection against potential profit
- Progressive Difficulty: Face increasingly sophisticated security measures and detection methods
- Strategic Planning: Plan routes through airport to minimize exposure risk
